Illinois

FWEET! – (that’s supposed to be a whistle noise). FanDuel and DraftKings are headed to the penalty box to serve 18 months for being ‘bad actors’. The state placed both DraftKings and FanDuel in a penalty box, excluding online-only licenses from being awarded until more than 18 months after the state awards its first ‘master license’. Illinois casino owners felt like FanDuel’s DFS operations constitute gambling, and should have been treated as such. Thus, their continued operation was a violation of state law and deserving of a penalty. A three year ban was proposed, but the state decided that 18 months was fair.

West Virginia

West Virginia is different from the other states in that it has its own, independent sportsbook app. While other approved states in the U.S. are able to bet while using the same app, WV will require a separate download. The reason being that the West VA version also incorporates DFS.
