Aston Villa and Arsenal to draw @ 13/5
There is only one point between these sides in the Premier League table and we feel they are evenly matched, despite Villa having two games in hand. Both suffered midweek setbacks and each manager may settle for responding with a stalemate when they meet in the Midlands. Villa have earned plenty of plaudits for their efforts this term, but four defeats in six games may force Dean Smith to go back to basics. Arsenal have injury and suspension issues, so a share of the spoils would not be a bad return for them either.
Burnley to beat Brighton @ 5/2
The Clarets have emerged from a tough run of fixtures with plenty of credit and will hope to pull further away from the relegation zone in their next three matches against Brighton, Crystal Palace and West Brom. Burnley have won four of their five home games against teams currently outside the top eight, so this is the kind of fixture in which they usually thrive. Brighton will be buoyed by recent upset wins over Leeds, Tottenham and Liverpool, but travelling up to Turf Moor is always a culture shock.
Newcastle to beat Southampton @ 2/1
Saints were left shell-shocked by Tuesday’s 9-0 drubbing at Manchester United and head to Tyneside with all kinds of problems. Jannik Vestergaard, Kyle Walker-Peters, Theo Walcott, Oriol Romeu and Ibrahima Diallo were all missing through injury in midweek, while they will now be without the suspended Alexandre Jankewitz. Newcastle were a touch unfortunate to follow up a fine win at Everton with a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace, when having 61 per cent of the possession and 21 attempts on goal, so we’re giving them another chance in our Premier League predictions.
West Ham to win at Fulham @ 11/10
The Hammers moved to within just two points of a place in the top four when enjoying a fine 3-1 triumph at Aston Villa. New loan star Jesse Lingard made an immediate impact by bagging a brace and the England international always thrived on confidence during his Manchester United days. On the same night, Fulham were fortunate to escape with just a 2-0 loss against Leicester, who also had three goals disallowed. The Cottagers now need to chase victories and that could leave them more vulnerable at the back.
Man Utd to beat Everton @ 8/15
United were given a helping hand by Saints going down to 10 men inside two minutes, but took advantage in ruthless fashion and should be full of confidence following that record-equalling 9-0 romp. Everton put a poor home loss to Newcastle behind them when prevailing 2-1 at Leeds, but the Whites hit the woodwork twice and it took several crucial saves from stand-in goalkeeper Robin Olsen to keep them at bay. The Toffees have looked lightweight in midfield without Allan and that may be exposed at Old Trafford.
